    Poll Question #3

FPA currently applies the CFP Board’s Code of Ethics to individual FPA members as a prerequisite of membership.

You can view the pending changes to CFP Board’s Code of Ethics at www.cfp.net/certificants/ethics.asp.

Given the pending changes to the CFP Board Code effective July 2008, should FPA maintain its current approach and incorporate CFP Board Code changes?

I think there is great benefit for the profession and our clients if there is consistency. I'm willing to make small compromises to achieve that benefit.

    Re: Poll Question #3

I believe FPA should review the CFP Boards Code of Ethis on an ongoing basis.  As all of our members are not CFP certificants it will be important to determine if the CFP Boards changes in this area continue to be broad enough such that they could apply readily to our non CFP certificants.  Should standards be applied that can not be met by someone not holding the CFP marks, the FPA should have a policy to set their own standard as would best represent its members and high values.  The Code of ethics currently appears reasonable and seems to be easily met by all of our members.
