Hello,
The means or the end, creation or destruction, the chicken or the egg, all have been centrepoint of debate simply because neither can be more important or for that matter less important than the other.
With due respect to the Chair, the differentiation on the basis of role of preparing people versus growing the profession is not as simple in practice. I pose the question "Who are the people who prepare the people?" Aren't these the very same people who have grown with the profession? Then if FPA has to grow the profession, isn't it contributing to "preparing the people"?
It is an extremely symbiotic relationship between the one who creates the standard and the one who maintains it. Both very heavily depend on each other. Without one of them, the other just cannot exist. It is important for each one of them to take responsibilty to see it this way.
When the FPA and the CFP Board understand how important they are to each other, that's when the public will truly benefit.
